Cop Kicked During DWI Arrest, Police Say

Jefferson man charged with aggravated assault.

A Jefferson man was charged with aggravated assault, in addition to DWI, after police said he kicked an officer on Dec. 21.

Dean Dooley, 54, was issued summonses on several motor vehicle violations in addition to being charged with DWI, assault and resisting arrest, according to a press release sent by Jefferson Township Police Capt. Eric Wilsusen.

Wilsusen said Dooley was stopped on Route 15 by Cpl. Bryan Christie for allegedly driving erratically.

"Cpl. Christie determined that the driver was possibly intoxicated and upon his arrest he became combative and kicked Cpl. Christie," Wilsusen said.

Dooley was transported to the police station where bail was set at $20,000 with no 10 percent option. In lieu of bail, Dooley was transported to the Morris County Correctional Facility.
