Cops: Bystander Detains Car Thief

The following arrest information was supplied by the Jefferson Township police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Police say good Samaritan not only spotted a car thief, but detained him until police arrived.

The good Samaritan told someone—later identified as Warren Hendrickson, 56, of Jefferson Township—had entered a vehicle parked on Nicole Court on Feb. 16, Jefferson Township police said.  The person did not recognize Hendrickson as the owner of the vehicle, police said.

The person followed Hendrickson to an abandoned house on Courtney Drive, police said. The person said he or she also observed Hendrickson kick door of residence, according to police.

At that point, the person called police and detained Hendrickson, police said. 

When police arrived, they arrested Hendrickson and charged him with burglary He was later released pending a municipal court appearance.
