Cupid Catastrophe: Man Accused of Stealing Dog, TV From Woman on First Date

Woman's pup returned the following day leashed to stolen television, report says.

She’s probably not going to call him for a second date.

Not after he allegedly stole her television and dog on the first date.

According to nj.com, Honey Ahmed, a 23-year-old Elizabeth man who went on a date last week with a Dover woman, was charged by police with two counts of theft and lodged in Morris County jail on $50,000 bail.

A warrant was issued for Ahmed’s arrest after the woman called police Friday morning to say that a man she had a date with Thursday evening had stolen her terrier and television, the report said.

Ahmed, who allegedly went by the name “Joel” on the date, was arrested by Elizabeth police at 11 p.m. Tuesday.

Before the arrest, though, the dog was found leashed to the television on the woman’s doorstep at 3 a.m. Saturday in good health, the report said.

Ahmed was scheduled for a bail hearing Thursday.

The status of the second date was not immediately known.
