Heavy Snow Collapses Roof at Katz's Marina

About 30 to 40 boats were contained inside the storage facility where the structure caved in early Monday morning.

According to Jefferson Police Capt. Eric Wilsusen, Officer Dave Wojtach responded to the Stonehenge Road establishment for an activated burglar alarm at about 3:30 a.m. Monday.

The officer soon realized the alarm was activated when a portion of the structure collapsed, Wilsusen said.

The building was not occupied and there were no injuries. Jefferson Fire Co. No. 2 and Tom Mahoney, the township's construction code official, responded to the scene and determined half of the marina's maintenance/storage facility where 30 to 40 boats were contained had collapsed, Wilsusen said.
