Boat Crashed by Drunk Jefferson Man, Cops Say

35-year-old arrested after allegedly striking another boat numerous times with his own boat.

A 35-year-old Jefferson Township man was arrested Jan. 24 after he allegedly rammed a docked boat with a boat of his own while drunk, Jefferson Police Capt. Eric Wilsusen said.

According to a report on NJ.com, Jefferson Police Officers Rodger Davis and Tim Hecht responded to the area of Chincopee Road near the ferry last week on the report of a man screaming in a boat. By the time officers arrived, Harju's boat was on top of the other vessel, which was partially submerged, Wilsusen said to NJ.com.

Harju faces numerous Title 12 (boating) violations including DWI and refusal to submit to a breath test and was later released pending an appearance in municipal court.
