Light Likely Sparked Boat Dealership Fire, Police Say

Marine Max showroom and roof suffered damage in early-morning blaze Wednesday.

An exterior lighted sign was the likely cause of a fire that damaged a boat dealership's showroom on Espanong Road Wednesday morning, Jefferson Police said.

The showroom of Marine Max was engulfed in flames when officers arrived at about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. There were no injuries in the blaze that damaged the showroom and roof, police said.

A preliminary investigation revealed an outside light in the front of the building may have sparked the blaze, police said.

Jefferson Fire Cos. 1 and 2 and the Picatinny Fire Department responded to the scene.

The investigation remains ongoing.
