A Hopatcong man has been sentenced to four years in state prison after pleading guilty to a slew of burglary charges stemming from a rash of criminal activity in February.
Christopher J. Rooney, 32, who is currently serving time in jail in Morris County on an unrelated matter, pleaded guilty to four counts of accomplice/burglary, one count of accomplice liability/theft, and one count of theft, according to the Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office.
Rooney admitted that he and an accomplice burglarized several homes in the borough between February 10 and 13 this year, taking property from the residences, the prosecutor’s office said.
Rooney also took power tools from a home but acted alone, the prosecutor’s office said.
The Hopatcong man was ordered to pay joint and several restitution to several victims along with fines and penalties of $780 and submit DNA samples at his expense, the court ruled.
The initial value of the stolen goods was estimated at $20,000.
