Man Admits Burglaries, Could Get 30 Years

Crimes committed in Jefferson, Mount Olive, Rockaway and Parsippany.

Kerry J. Honan pleaded guilty Tuesday to multiple counts of burglary before Judge Stuart Minkowitz in state superior court. The plea calls for a 30-year term in a New Jersey state prison, with 15 years of parole ineligibility.

Honan, 36, of Sparta, was charged with multiple counts of burglary in Jefferson Township, Mount Olive, Rockaway Borough and Parsippany in 2009.

The state filed a motion for extended term of confinement based on Honan’s past criminal history, and the fact that he was out of prison on bail when some of the burglaries were committed.

The investigation involved many area police departments, as well as the Morris County Intelligence Crime Task Force and Burglary Task Force.

“This plea again represents our aggressive stance on those who commit burglaries in Morris County. I commend the cooperative investigative efforts of The Jefferson Township, Mt. Olive Township, Rockaway Borough and Parsippany Troy Hills police departments who along with the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Intelligence Crime Task Force and Burglary Task force and the Morris County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Section were all instrumental in achieving this excellent result,” Morris County Prosecutor Robert Bianchi said.. “The coordinated efforts of numerous agencies working together is again illustrative of how our countywide crime plan is channeling and coordinating our intelligence to achieve maximum results all at a cost savings to the public.”
