New York Jets running back Michael “Mike” Goodson Jr. entered a not guilty plea in Morristown Superior Court Wednesday during his arraignment on a charge of possessing a loaded handgun in Denville in May, the Daily Record reported.

In filing the plea, the football player turned down a plea deal that would have given him three years in prison and allow parole after he'd served at least one year. His attorney, Anthony Fusco, said that Goodson maintains that the gun was not his.

Goodson, 26, of Spring, Texas, was indicted in October on a charge of illegal weapons possession; another charge was handed down against him for unlawful possession of prohibited weapons and devices, because a hollow-point bullet was found in the handgun, the article said.
