Pair Charged After Car Strikes Telephone Pole

Mt. Arlington man charged with hindering apprehension and obstructing justice, and Mt. Olive woman accused of leaving scene of crash.

Two people were charged after a motor vehicle accident in the area of Northwood and Prospect Point roads last month, Jefferson Police said.

Stephanie Jasko, 23, of Mt. Olive, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident, careless driving and reckless driving.

Michael Gonzalez-Santana, 27, of Mt. Arlington, was charged with obstructing justice and hindering apprehension.

According to Capt. Eric Wilsusen, the first officer to arrive at the scene of the May 22 accident found Gonzalez-Santana in the roadway and a white Toyota Camry in the woods.

The vehicle appeared to have struck a telephone pole, Wilsusen said.

Gonzalez-Santana initially identified himself as the driver of the vehicle, Wilsusen said. However, witnesses told police two women fled the scene in another vehicle before officers arrived, Wilsusen said.

Officers determined Jasko was the driver of the vehicle and was arrested and charged, Wilsusen said.
