Police: Dispute Leads to Drug Arrest

The following arrest information was supplied by the Jefferson Township police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Jefferson Township police were called to the Ridge Road residence for a dispute on March 12, police said.

Upon entering the home, police said, they observed a strong odor of burnt marijuana and observed marijuana and paraphernalia in plain view.

Police arrested James Smith, 25 and Lillian Balbi, 30, both of Jefferson Township, and charged them with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.

Both were taken to the Morris County Correctional Facility in lieu of bail, $25,000 for Balbi and $5,000 for Smith, with no 10 percent option for either party, according to police.
