Police: Man Robs Route 15 Gas Station With Knife

Man demanded money from register and fled, police say.

Police are searching for the man who robbed a Getty gas station and convenience store on Route 15 South early Monday morning.

Three Jefferson offers responded the 12:29 a.m. call. Police said a short male wearing all black with a ski mask and glasses entered the store and pulled out what was described as a large kitchen knife. The man demanded money from the cash register and some glass pipes that are sold at the store, and placed the items in a blue book bag, police said.

 The man then fled the store and was last seen running north on Route 15 South, police said.

Officers from the Rockaway Township and Sparta Township police departments assisted in searching for the suspect, who is still at large, according to police. The Morris County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit and K-9 Unit responded to assist in the investigation.

The incident is currently under investigation by Jefferson Detective Joseph Kratzel.
