DWI Checkpoints This Weekend

Goal is to cut down number of drunk drivers and prevent crashes.

Drivers beware: there will be Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) checkpoints this weekend in Jefferson Township, according to Morris County prosecutor Robert Bianchi.

The Prosecutor’s Office received a County DWI Enforcement Grant from the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety Administration to conduct DWI checkpoints at various locations throughout the county. It is designed to establish checkpoints in cooperation with the Morris County Municipal Police Departments at various locations throughout the county.

Jefferson Township Police Captain Eric Wilsusen said that township officers will be out on detail between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. He declined to give specifics as to what night or on what roads the detail will be present.
