Residents Should Stay Off Roads, Police Warn

Multiple trees and power lines are down all over the township, police say.

Jefferson Police urges residents to stay off the roads Monday night as Hurricane Sandy continues to impact the area.

According to Capt. Eric Wilsusen, all of Oak Ridge is without power, and there are trees and power lines down all over the township.

As of 8 p.m. Monday night, JCP&L reported over 7,000 customers in Jefferson are experiencing power outages.

Wilsusen said there have been multiple reports of trees falling on homes, and most major roadways throughout the township are blocked.

He said most of the roadways are impassable and residents are advised to stay inside.
