5 Things: Council Meeting on the Agenda

Council will discuss changing the date of school board elections from April to November.

The will meet tonight at the municipal building. Here are just some of the things you'll miss if you're not there:

  1. Budget Meeting: It starts at 6 p.m. and the public is welcome. Under discussion tonight are salaries and the capital overview.
  2. Moving School Board Vote: Tonight the council will discuss moving the school board elections from their April date to the date of the November elections. Gov. Christie signed a bill into law giving school boards the option to make the move. All school boards in New Jersey are required to make their decision by Feb. 17, and the action taken would be set for the next four years, according to the bill.
  3. New Rescue Members: Monica Campagna, Jessica Puig and Jessica Skalecky will be sworn in as new members of the Jefferson Township Rescue Squad at tonight’s meeting.
  4. Agreement: One item on the consent agenda will: Authorize Mayor to Execute Shared Services Agreement with the Borough of Hopatcong for Emergency Animal Control Officer Coverage for period January 1, 2012 through December 31, 2013 (Cert Avail of Funds).”
  5. Ropes Course: Also under discussion tonight will be a ropes course play area for the children who attend Camp Jefferson in the summer.
