Military Commander, Junior Women's Club, Native Americans Receive Accolades

Governing body approves ceremonial resolution and proclamations and OKs municipal Christmas event.

The Jefferson Township Council appeared to be in the giving mood at last Wednesday's regular meeting. Much of the governing body's session was dedicated to showing appreciation for individuals and groups of note.

The council approved a resolution honoring Brigadier General John J. Elam, commander of the 102nd Training Division in Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. A proclamation was approved to declare the week of Nov. 17 Junior Women's Club Week in Jefferson Township. Another proclamation was approved as well to acknowledge that November is National American Indian Heritage Month.

The body also gave it approval to plans for a municipal outdoor event for the holidays. The Jefferson Christmas in the Village event will take place Dec. 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The vendor event will give residents the chance to shop locally for the winter holiday season. Details for the event will be made available shortly.
