Jefferson Town Council, Mayor Announce New Year's Appointments

Mayor Russell Felter appointed Lawrence Cohen to a 34th year as township attorney.

Postponed from Jan. 2 due to the recent snowstorm, the Jefferson Township Council finally held its 2014 reorganization meeting Monday, AIM Jefferson reported. 

The new year brought no changes to the governing body, but Mayor Russell Felter announced a number of appointments, including

  • Township Attorney: Lawrence Cohen (34th year in the job) 
  • Planning Board: Dr. Clifford Williams, James Hine and William Craig
  • Environmental Commission: Patricia Curley
  • Cable TV Commission: Jan Dunham and Tom Hantson

Still vacant are five youth seats on the Municipal Alliance and a position on the recreation advisory board.

Council President Richard Yocum announced council appointments, including Board of Adjustment members William Kramer, Robert Vanderploeg Jr., Patricia Longreglia and Tracie Anderson; Deputy Clerk Maria Pirvirotto, Lake Hopatcong Commission alternate Robert Mitchko; and Sussex County Water Quality Board, Jeff Elam and Richard Tuttle, the article said.
