Route 15 Southbound Interchange to be Paved

South Edison Road interchange expected to be resurfaced sometime this year.

Plans are in place to pave a Route 15 southbound interchange in Jefferson, Township Administrator James Leach said at Wednesday's reorganization meeting.

"I was on the phone with Sen. [Joseph] Pennacchio's office and we have in writing from the DOT that they'e going to repave the Route 15 South Edison Road interchange this year," he said.

Leach said the DOT paved all the Route 15 northbound ramps "maybe three or four years ago," but didn't pave the southbound interchange. He added that the DOT said it would pave the interchange after the county resurfaced Edison Road, and "after the county paved Edison Road [the DOT] didn't know if they owned that interchange anymore."

The paving will begin this year, but Leach said it is not yet known when the project will begin.

"We've been back and forth with them for the last few months," he said. "At least we have in writing they're going to pave that this year."
