Boys Basketball Hits the Court

Jefferson HS Basketball spends the start of summer in the gym.

While their classmates enjoyed the first day of summer vacation a select group of boys basketball players were on the court for the semi-finals of the Hopatcong League.

Each sunner for seven days the high school basketball team has a chance to get together and play area teams for a summer league.  This year the top three teams after the preliminary rounds were located within only a few miles of each other.

Jefferson, Sparta and Pope John each finished with only one loss.  Jefferson fell to Sparta, Sparta fell to Pope John and Pope John fell to Jefferson.  In the end Pope John lost in the quarter-finals, leaving Jefferson, Sparta, Mt Olive and West Morris in the semi final round.

The draw left Jefferson playing Sparta and Mt. Olive playing West Morris.  After the semi-final round Sparta and Mt. Olive were left playing each other for the bragging rights and the boys from Jefferson were headed home to officially start their summer vacation.
