Jefferson Schools to Get $650K More In State Aid for 2012-2013

Christie released state aid numbers late Thursday.

State aid to for 2012-13 will total $15,787,785—or $652,147 more than 2011-2012—according to numbers released by the state Department of Education Thursday.

Total K-12 formula aid throughout the state for the 2013 fiscal year amounted to $7.8 billion, an increase of $135 million over 2012, according to a press release from Gov. Chris Christie's office.

The number was met with a positive reaction from township officials.

“Of course you always want more, but we’ll take what we’ve gotten and be happy with it,” said board of education member Frank Cuccio, who is also the head of the board’s finance committee. “We don’t have exact line items as to what we'll do with the money available yet, but we’ll continue to go in the direction we’ve gone in the past and make things better for the students in Jefferson.”
