Jefferson Township Eighth-Grader Honored With Leadership Award

Allie Cheff received the Morris County Superintendent's Leadership Award for her community service and human rights efforts.

Allie Cheff, an eighth-grader at Jefferson Township Middle School. is a prolific bandmate with a heart of gold.

The Morris County Superintendent awarded Cheff with this year's Leadership Award, presented to a graduating middle school student who demonstrates leadership qualities and behaves as a model citizen for his or her community, May 6 at its ceremony and dinner.

Cheff was bestowed with the award because of her achievements in  Project Stay Gold, Concert Band, Jazz Band and Select Band.

She and other members of Project Stay Gold also received the  the Human Rights Award from the New Jersey Education Association at its Human Rights Dinner in January.

The award recognizes students who are committed to fighting for human rights.

Cheff is also involved in a number of community service projects such as coat drives and bake sales at her church. She participates in fundraising activities for community food pantries.
