Lady Falcons Win County Hoops Semi-Final

Jefferson will take on Chatham next week for the Morris County tournament championship.

The Jefferson Lady Falcons went into Friday night’s Morris County Tournament semi-final basketball game knowing exactly what they had to do against Randolph. They had to handle the pressure and play as a team. They accomplished those goals, and came out with a 47-39 victory.

“We handled their pressure and took control of the game at the end, and that was key,” said Falcon head coach Jim O’Connor.

The Falcons also had other scoring besides their three leaders, Imani Brown with 12 and Sammy Lapszynski and Kristen Swerzenski, both with 10. For example, Brandy Corsaro hit a three with 44 seconds left in the third period.

“That was a big three from Brandy,” O’Connor said. “they left her open and she stepped up. That’s what it was all about for us tonight. We had a team that could step up when we needed them.

“(Kristen) Flaherty and Sammy (Lapszynski) had to work for everything they got tonight. Randolph held them well,” O’Connor said.
