Party Continues After Prom Is Over

After-Prom breakfast finished its 25th year.

If you thought the party was over after the senior prom ended at 11 p.m. on Thursday night, you'd probably want to rethink that.

Prom-goers hopped in their limos, party buses or parent-driven cars and headed off to St. Thomas Church in Oak Ridge for the after-prom breakfast.

With high-heeled shoes replaced with comfortable socks, tuxedo jackets removed and ties loosened, the students enjoyed srambled eggs, bacon, taylor ham, rolls, bagels and juice provided from a grant by the Jefferson Township Municipal Alliance. Food was prepared and served by Mayor Russell Felter, councilman Michael Sanchelli, past Board of Education member Bob Feldmann, members of the high school PTSA and parent volunteers.

"We've been doing the breakfast for 25 years now," said PTSA president Michelle Cannarozzi. "We're fortunate to get the Municipal Alliance grant.

She explained that the breakfast was implemented as a way for parents to be assured that all students arrive safely back in town after the prom.

"We're always comforted to know that they're all back here safe and sound," Cannarozzi said.

And as an added bonus, once students check in at the breakfast, they are granted an excused absence for the day following the prom.
