School Board: 10 Confirmed Incidents Under New Bullying Law

Report presented at board meeting.

The t presented its Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying (HIB) Incident Report—the first under the new law—at its meeting on Monday night. In the district 56 incidents were reported between Sept. 1 and Dec. 16, 2011, but only 13 were confirmed to be incidents of HIB, according to superintendent Dr. Kathaleen Fuchs.

“Under the new law, there are certain actions we have to take and paperwork that needs to be done regarding every incident,” Fuchs said.

The middle school had the highest amount of incidents reported with 37 and incidents confirmed with 10. The high school had 12 incidents reported and two confirmed, according to the report the district showed in a PowerPoint presentation.
