Small Business Saturday Gets Boost from Oak Ridge Businesses
Several Oak Ridge businesses are encouraging shoppers to keep it local— to shop locally, get their hair done locally, dine locally, not just on Small Business Saturday, but throughout the holidays.
A number of Oak Ridge businesses have joined together to participate in Small Business Saturday on Saturday.
Founded by American Express and first observed in November 2010, the Shop Small Movement encourages consumers to shop with and support the small businesses who have enjoyed giving their communities so much. Since its inception, millions of individuals, businesses and communities have embraced the Shop Small and Support Local Business concept.
With the above in mind and the holidays right around the corner, several businesses in Oak Ridge have come together to offer local consumers incentives encouraging them to keep it local: to shop locally, get their hair done locally, dine locally, not just on Small Business Saturday but
throughout the holiday season.
To take advantage of the above incentives, stop by Buccieri’s Gems & Jewelry at 5669 Berkshire Valley Road beginning Wednesday. Those who do will receive a Shop Small Incentives Envelope. Each envelope is filled with special promotions from local businesses valid not only on Small Business Saturday, but throughout the Hanukkah and Christmas shopping season and into 2014. The envelopes will be distributed throughout the holiday season until there are none left.
At this time, 11 Jefferson-area businesses have committed to participating in this promotion and several others are working on their ideas in the hopes of having their incentives included in the Shop Small Incentives Envelopes.
Incentive examples include $5 off a $25 retail purchase at Buccieri’s Gens & Jewelry, 10 percent off Benjamin Moore Regal Interior Paint at Headley Lumber and a $20 coupon for eyewear at The Optical Center—and there are many other incentives and giveaways just perfect for the holiday season (including discounts at local beauty parlors).

Organizers say any Oak Ridge business that wishes to participate in next year’s Shop Small Incentives Envelope program is encouraged to contact Kathy Buccieri via e-mail at Kathy@buccierisgemsandjewlery.com or by calling 973-208-6880.
In the meantime, local consumers are invited to pick up Shop Small Incentives Envelopes at Buccieri’s beginning Wednesday.
