Choreographed ballroom dancing

For anyone who needs some help to dance like the stars: Try choreographed ballroom dancing (round dancing). Mary Pickett, an experienced instructor, is starting a beginner’s class on Wednesdays from 8:30-10:15 p.m. at 828 Route 15 South, Lake Hopatcong (in the Jazzercise studio on the second floor). The first class is October 19. Each session is $15 per couple.

You’ll learn ballroom rhythms including cha-cha, rumba, waltz, foxtrot, jive, quickstep, tango, bolero, lindy, west coast swing, and more. In round dancing, the steps are choreographed to the music and announced by a cuer, so that you always know what step to do next. For more information on round dancing, visit www.rounddancing.net/dance.

For more information on the class in Lake Hopatcong, contact Mary Pickett at marypickett@juno.com or Jeff Stevens at jeff9stevens@usa.net. You can also simply come to the studio on October 19.
