Oak Ridge resident Darianne Mastricola, now off at college, is getting off to a good start: The freshman earned a sport as a forward/midfielder on the field hockey team for her new alma mater, Eastern Connecticut State University

And her new team already is off to a great start: Eastern has defeated Anna Maria College, Lasell College and Wheelock College so far this season and earned a record of 3-1.

Mastricola was honored in Jefferson earlier this year when she and her brother became the first cross-gender sibling team in that township's history to be presented with highest scouting honors together. Connor Mastricola received the Eagle Scout designation alongside sister Darianne Mastricola, who won the Girl Scouts Gold Award.
