The Jefferson girls field hockey team, seeded No. 6 seed in the North 1, Group II state sectional tournament, advanced past Hackettstown, 5-1, in a first round matchup on Friday, according to NJ.com.
Lauren Ransegnola had two goals and two assists, and Vienna Castrignano also scored twice for Jefferson (12-5-1).
Jefferson headed into the postseason boasting an impressive 11-5-1 record. Brooke Lehman leads the Falcons in goals scored this season with 10, and goalie Alexandria Taveras has stopped 87 shots this season, according to NJ.com. Hackettstown sits at 5-12 this season.

The Jefferson boys soccer team will also make a trip to the North 1, Group III state tournament when they head to face fourth seeded Old Tappan (12-3-1) on Tuesday, Nov. 1. Jefferson (8-11-1) owns the No. 13 seed.
