Calderone Teaches People to Stay Safe, Gets Gold Award

Girl Scout warns residents about the dangers of identity theft.

Girl Scout Gold Award recipient Sarina Calderone wanted people to be sure their identity stays safe. For her Gold Award project, the Troop 1760 member educated the community on identity theft at a back-to-school night, at the senior center in the township and at the library. She used brochures she’d created to do the job.

In addition, Calderone hosted a “shred event” in October, where she used a mobile shredder and invited residents to come and shred compromising documents that they no longer needed. With the proceeds from the event, she gave a professional shredded to the for free public access.
