Jefferson Woman Honored for Longtime PTA Service

Terri Tate gets lifetime membership into the PTA.

Honoring years of service to the PTA that continued long after her only child advanced out of the elementary schools, township resident Terri Tate received a lifetime membership award from the Jefferson Consolidated PTA on Tuesday night. Lisa Falco, president of the Morris County PTA, was on hand to present Tate with her award, which included a lifetime membership pin and a certificate.

Tate has been a member of the PTA since 2000, acting as recording secretary for two years. She also helps with the Tricky Tray fundraising event, and has been a room mother in several classrooms.

In addition to her PTA volunteer efforts, Tate has been on the committee that organizes Jefferson’s haunted house every Halloween since 2000, taking over chairperson duties of the committee in 2002. She is a the recording secretary of the Republican Club, and represents Jefferson Township for the Morris County Republican Club, representing District 1. She also serves on the township’s Municipal Alliance Committee.

Tate’s son Tyler is 15 and a sophomore at Jefferson Township High School.

“I also have to mention my husband Don,” Tate said. “I can’t forget the support I get at home so I can do all of this.”

So what does Tate do with her free time, if there is any such thing?

“I like to spend time with my friends and just live life every moment,” she said. “That’s really what it’s all about.”
