Orange Ribbons Will Color Memorial Day Parade

Donations for ribbons will go to the Chris Pierson Fund.

Township volunteers are hoping that the Memorial Day parade will include some orange mixed in with the red, white and blue in the form of "Pierson Pins."

These orange ribbons, Chris Pierson's favorite color, will be available at the parade for a small donation to the Chris Pierson Fund.

Pierson, age 17, is a junior at Jefferson Township High School. He suffered a spinal cord injury in a recent skiing accident. After spending two months in Kessler's Spinal Cord Rehabilitation Center, Pierson came home last week.

The Chris Pierson Fund has been established to help Chris' family modify their home to make it wheelchair accessible, and to assist with rehabilitation expenses that are not covered by insurance.

Ribbons are available at Briggs School and Stanlick the Board of Education office, and soon all schools will have them. All donations recieved from the ribbons go directly to the Chris Pierson Fund.
