Jefferson Township has an ordinance allowing police to enter private property if they are alerted to underage drinking on the property.

“We are lucky to have this ordinance,” Merz said. “Not all towns have it, and if they don’t, police can’t enter a private home to stop underage drinking. In our town, they can.”
