Karate Kicks Off at Camp Jefferson, Rotary Helps Military Families Having Babies This Week

Your weekly planner for Jefferson Township includes news of Monday's school board meeting and a fundraising activity for Cub Scout Pack 111.

Lots happening in the week ahead.

  • The Jefferson Township Recreation Department’s Karate Program kicks off Monday. Classes run each Monday through Feb. 3, with the exception of Dec. 23 and 30.  The program is open to kindergarteners through adults. Classes are held in the Community Lodge at Camp Jefferson at 81 Weldon Road at from 6:30-7:30 p.m. for kids through fourth grade and from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. for those in grade five through adult. Register with the Jefferson Township Recreation Department at Camp Jefferson. The program fee is $55 per person with a discount of $5 per person for the second, third, etc. sibling enrolled. For additional information, contact the Recreation office at 973-663-8404.
  • The Jefferson Township Board of Education gathers for its regular meeting Monday night. The gathering starts at 7 p.m., when the board will go into a closed executive session. The public portion of the meeting is expected to begin at 8 p.m. The agenda had not been released at press time. The meeting takes place at the high school, 1010 Weldon Road, in the media center.
  • Cub Scout Pack 111 of Jefferson is raising funds through an Aluminum Can Collection—and the boys are asking the town to help. They request that residents drop off cans at Stanlick School Friday from 6:45-8 p.m. If you have questions, send e-mail to jeffersonpack111@gmail.com.
  • Step up to help out military families in the family way. The Jefferson Township Rotary Club sponsors a Virtual Baby Shower this week. Residents are asked to donate new baby items, gift cards, bottles, blankets and more that will be given to pregnant spouses of soldiers in the U.S. armed forces. The event will be Saturday at the Lake Hopatcong Pathmark on Route 15 starting at 9 a.m. For more info or to make a donation, contact Rotary's Christine Murray at 973 663-2703.
