Tickets on Sale for Gin Blossoms Concert at Newton Theatre

The popular 90s alternative band will be performing locally on Feb. 7.

Get your grunge on again when the Gin Blossoms, the popular alternative rock band of the 90s, will perform at the the Newton Theatre Feb. 7 at 8 p.m. The group will perform some of their greatest hits, including 'Hey Jealousy', 'Allison Road' and 'Found Out About You'.

The Phoenix-based band's distinctive sound earned them a spot in the South By Southwest Music Festival in Austin, Texas in 1989. That same year, the group was invited to  perform on MTV’s New Music Awards in New York City. Their album, New Miserable Experience, sold over one million copies. 'Hey Jealousy', the first released single from the album, went gold.

The growing success of the band hit a road block when the group's brilliant songwriter and lead guitarist Doug Hopkins had to be fired for his erratic behavior. A week after Hopkins destroyed the gold record he received for 'Hey Jealousy' in 1993, Hopkins committed suicide.
