Chamber Seeks Money for Sign Honoring Roberts

Donations are currently being accepted.

The Jefferson Township Chamber of Commerce is looking to honor Doris Roberts, a township resident who volunteered for the chamber and several other township organizations. Roberts died last week. “Doris Roberts was dedicated and committed to Jefferson Township and many of its organizations and deserves to be recognized indefinitely,” said a press release from the Chamber. “To preserve her memory the JTCC will dedicate a new Route 15 south sign to her when enough funds have been raised.” The sign welcoming visitors to Jefferson Township on Route 15 “has seen better days and is in need of replacement,” the press release said. Doris Roberts, Described as a 'Treasure'

Mayor Russell Felter: "She loved this town a lot and will be sorely missed."

Doris Roberts of Jefferson Township passed away last Saturday. She was 90. “She was a treasure,” said Jefferson Township mayor Russell Felter. “She did a lot for this town, and was very active up until just a few months ago. She loved this town a lot, and she will be sorely missed. Our sympathy goes out to her friends and family.” Roberts promoted many causes throughout town, including the Jefferson Arts Committee. She was remembered fondly by committee president Carol PUnturieri. “Doris Roberts was a good person and a gracious lady who was full of energy and passionate about Jefferson Township. She was always a friend of the Jefferson Arts Committee and did all she could to promote our events as well as everything else going on in the …

Doris was truly one amazing woman! She was a great inspiration and influence to pursue the balance of hard work and happiness. Doris was generous, gracious, humble, kind and honest.
