Jefferson Man Killed In Crash 'Loving Father,' Moved to U.S. for Kids

Family of Amir Khan, 52, say he was following the 'American dream.'

Amir Khan gave up everything for his three children to move the the United States from Pakistan two years ago. He wanted them to live the "American dream." But the 52-year-old Jefferson man's life had a tragic ending last week when he was struck by a van and killed while walking along Route 15. Police said Khan was pronounced dead at the scene after he was struck by a 2010 Ford van driven by Marcus Cintron, 41, of Jefferson, who was traveling south on the highway near the intersection of Tierney Road. Khan's sister-in-law, Shaista Zareen, said she thinks Khan was walking home from work at the time of the incident. Pedestrian Killed in Crash Identified as Jefferson Man

52-year-old struck while crossing Route 15 in Lake Hopatcong Thursday night.

A pedestrian killed on Route 15 in Lake Hopatcong Thursday night has been identified as a 52-year-old Jefferson man, police said. Amir Khan was pronounced dead at the scene after he was struck by a 2010 Ford van driven by Marcus Cintron, 41, of Jefferson, who was traveling south on the highway near the intersection of Tierney Road, according to a report supplied by Capt. Eric Wilsusen. Cintron, who was working for Cablevision when driving the company van, was taken to St. Clare's Hospital in Dover for a medical evaluation, Wilsusen said. Officer Justin Gjelsvik first responded to the crash at about 5:30 p.m., and was joined by Traffic Officer Det. Steve Muller who continues to investigate the incident, Wilsusen said. Driver Killed, Lake Hopatcong Man Hurt in I-80 Crash

West Milford woman died early Sunday morning when her SUV hit sound barrier, State Police said.

The driver of an SUV was killed early Sunday when she veered off Interstate 80 and crashed into a sound barrier on the side of the highway in Parsippany, according to State Police Sgt. Adam Grossman. Police identified the driver as 30-year-old Jennifer Wyatt of West Milford. A passenger, David Olsen, of Lake Hopatcong, was transported to Morristown Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Olsen was engaged to Wyatt and was planning on getting married this spring, according to an article on NJ.com. The article says Wyatt was working as a director of the Building Blocks child care program at Chilton Hospital in Pompton Plains. 2 Killed After Jeep Flips Near Jefferson Border

All four occupants were ejected from the vehicle that was found overturned in a wooded area about 100 yards off Green Pond Road, the prosecutor's office said.

All four occupants were ejected and two died after a Jeep Wrangler flipped over and came to rest about 100 yards off the roadway in a wooded area on Green Pond Road in Rockaway Township near the Jefferson border early Sunday morning, the Morris County Prosecutor's Office said. The driver, Kathryn E. Schneider, 20, of Rockaway, was pronounced dead at Chilton Memorial Hospital, the prosecutor's office said. Ray A. Henderson, 21, of Franklin, died during transport to Chilton, the prosecutor's office said. Zachary T. AUDIO: The Last Conversation With Air Traffic Control

'Severe icing' was reported at 14,000 feet.

Over the course of one minute and 42 seconds, several pilots reported icing conditions, with Air Traffic Control noting "severe" icing conditions at 14,000 feet. Pilot Jeffrey F. Buckalew asked about these conditions during the communications and then signed off. It would be the last communications he would make to Air Traffic Control before his plane, also containing a business associate, his dog, and his wife and two children, crashed onto Route 287 in Morris Township on Dec. 20.
