Jefferson's DPW aims to execute drainage projects on Yacht Club Drive, Notch Road, West Shawnee Trail, Lorretacong Drive and Arrowhead Trail in 2013.
Jefferson’s Department of Public Works are set to take on some of the roads that have been a drain on the community. Specifically the DPW has a plan to fix some drainage problems on Yacht Club Drive, Notch Road, West Shawnee Trail and other roads in 2013, a DPW official said. Assistant municipal engineer Ed Haack, during the council’s budget meeting last Wednesday, depicted the department’s plan to fix about $270,000 in drainage issues on a few key roads residents have been calling about for a few years. Haack said the West Shawnee project, which “has been on the backburner for awhile,” is a priority, and he has already told residents that the DPW aims to execute it this year. “We are in the process of identifying where the water is coming…

To the editor: We followed every requirement of the consent order including the erection of the required fence, kennel and signage. We walked our dogs with muzzles, spranger collars and 12" leashes every day at 5:30 or earlier in the dark on empty streets in order not to scare or disturb neighbors who may have followed the negative, biased stories written in the Jersey Journal. As an added precaution, the Kolbs took pictures every morning of the dogs wearing muzzles, leashes and collars before leaving on their walks. We would like to point out that the only testimony of seeing the dogs unmuzzled is from a questionable witness who seemed unable to remember any details on the day in question. We do not deny that we walked the dogs without …

Elam will debrief next week and take some leave time before resuming his public works and engineer positions on April 1. Robert Headley Christmas Tree Farm in Oak Ridge has been around since the 1950s.
Working at the Robert Headley Christmas Tree Farm during Christmas time has been a family tradition for the Headleys for nearly a half of a century. The Oak Ridge tree farm is selling three types of trees for families to take home this holiday season. All priced at $35, the farm is offering blue spruce, white spruce, and douglar fir trees. Terry Pessagno, whose grandfather Robert Headley starting planting the trees on the Weldon Road property since the 1950s, said she and brother and sister, Bob and Jerry, now own the business where some of their earliest childhood memories are. Pessagno still remembers some of her earliest memories since she was five years old working at the farm. "Every year on Christmas day my grandfather would have an …

Nancy, just remember that this all started in Jersey City way back in 2008. Jersey City is in no way a "backwoods hillbilly town". Since moving to Jefferson in 2011…   more ›
