Fraud Scheme Bilked $3M From Oak Ridge Bank

Owner of Hunterdon County luggage manufacturing company pleads guilty to fraud.

The owner of a Hunterdon County luggage manufacturing company admitted Thursday to defrauding Oak Ridge's Lakeland Bank of $3 million, the U.S. Attorney's Office said. Richard Rekuc, 59, of Asbury Park, pleaded guilty to one count of bank fraud and faces up to 30 years in prison and a $1 million fine when he's sentenced in May. According to U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman, Rekuc obtained a credit line from Lakeland Bank for his Phillipsburg luggage manufacturing company, Royalox International Inc. The credit line was based on Royalox's accounts receivable, meaning the higher the company's sales, the more it could borrow from the credit line, Fishman said. Lakeland Bank Officially Opens Offices at Old A&P Building

Lakeland Bank’s Operations and Training departments have relocated to a site in Jefferson Township, according to Thomas J. Shara, president and CEO of Lakeland Bank. “The opportunity to relocate our staff to a facility near our headquarters was a win for our colleagues and the Bank as well as the Jefferson community,” said Shara. “The Bank’s executive team was pleased the relocation would have minimal impact on our colleagues while helping to improve the appearance and business activity in this commercial zone. Neinstedt Appointed Senior VP at Lakeland Bank

Neinstedt has 35 years of banking experience, most recently with Heritage Community Bank in Denville, N.J. where he was SVP and senior loan officer since 2009. Prior to that, he was with Commerce Bank/TD Bank as a regional vice president. Nienaber Appointed VP Compliance Officer at Lakeland Bank

She comes from Sussex Bank.

Lisa Nienaber has been appointed to vice president, compliance officer based at the Lakeland Bank headquarters in Oak Ridge, CEO Thomas J. Shara announced. Nienaber has 15 years of banking experience, most recently with Sussex Bank in Franklin where she was vice president and compliance officer since 2007. Prior to that, she was with First Morris Bank & Trust (now Provident Bank) in Morristown for nine years as compliance officer. Nienaber is a graduate of the American Bankers Association Compliance School, and is a resident of Parsippany.
