A 10-year–old boy suffered a back injury when a vehicle he was in, driven by a 17-year-old Jefferson teen, mishandled the turn at Legion Road and Milton Road and hit a pole Monday afternoon, police said. “[The driver] didn’t negotiate the turn properly,” said Sgt. Timothy McBride of the Jefferson police. “He was shaken up but not hurt. He’s upset because his brother and sister were in the car with him.” The 10-year-old was taken to Chilton Memorial Hospital. A young female passenger, whose age was released, was unharmed. “She was scared, but she wasn’t hurt,” McBride said. The Milton First Aid Squad responded to the scene.

A car caught fire in the driveway of a home on Highland Rd. early Wednesday morning, police said. The fire extended to the garage portion of the home, causing extensive damage, police said. No one was harmed in the blaze, which is till under investigation, according to police. Jefferson Township Fire Company 1 and 2 responded to the fire, along with the Milton First Aid Squad.
