Route 15 Bridge Work Will Impact Jefferson Traffic

Bridge reconstruction to require longterm lane closures and turn restrictions at interchange.

The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) began a project Friday to replace the Weldon Road-Espanong Road bridge deck over all lanes of Route 15 in Jefferson. According to officials, NJDOT’s contractor, Ritacco Construction, Inc., is scheduled to implement the initial construction zone along the middle portion of the bridge to remove the existing concrete median and install new pavement. The work will require that the left travel lanes on Weldon Road-Espanong Road be closed to traffic and the roadway be reduced from four travel lanes to one travel lane in each direction throughout construction. Route 15 Bridge Construction to Start in Fall

DOT will be hold meeting to inform residents.

The deck of the Espanong Road/Weldon Road bridge over Route 15 is secheduled to be replaced this fall. In anticipation of resident questions, the New Jersey Department of Transportation (DOT) will hold an information session at Camp Jefferson On June 14 from 6 - 8 p.m. This is not a two-hour meeting; instead it is the opportunity for residents to stop by at their convenience to look at the proposed detour map and ask questions of DOT officials, according to Ed Mangold, deputy coordinator of Jefferson Township's Office of Emergency Management (OEM).  The project will include replacing the deck and repairing piers and abutments, along with minor work on the bridge approaches, according to a letter to the township from the DOT. Traffic Shifts to Affect I-80 This Weekend

There will be lane closures in Parsippany while new construction zones are set up.

Upcoming traffic pattern shifts on the Interstate 80 bridges over Interstate 287 northbound and Smith Road in both directions in Parsippany were announced today by the NJDOT. The new construction zones in both directions of the highway will be set up this weekend. Lanes will be closed overnight in each direction Friday and Saturday night to implement the new patterns. They are expected to be in place by noon on Sunday, according to the NJDOT. Once the new construction zones are in place, three travel lanes will be maintained on the eastbound side during daytime and peak period hours, split around either side of the work zone.
