The Jefferson Township Rotary Club sponsored an Artists’ Fair to support its college scholarship fund. More than a dozen artists from Jefferson and surrounding areas displayed their pieces at Casa Bianca in Oak Ridge on Sunday afternoon. The artists were on hand to discuss their work with visitors.

Area Rotary Clubs are seeking candidates for a post-graduate fellowship to study abroad in the area of peace and conflict resolution. The Rotary International World Peace Fellowship, which culminates in a master’s degree, is now available for the academic years 2013-2015 at one of six universities in England, Japan, Sweden, Australia, Thailand or Argentina. Applicants should have a baccalaureate degree and the training and background to gain admission to a graduate program at one of the Rotary Center University partners. The applicant should also have a minimum of three years’ work experience in a related field at the time of application, as well as proficiency in more than one language. Rotary clubs in the Jefferson Township area are recruiting students ages 16 to 20 to participate in a unique three-week trip to southern Japan. The program accepts 28 students from the area, and 18 have already been selected to participate. The remaining slots are being filled on a first-come, first-served basis. The Rotary Short-Term Youth Exchange Program, now in its 33 years old, provides an in-depth cultural experience than cannot be experienced as a typical tourist, according to Rotary officials. The trip departs on June 28 and returns on July 19.
