Dead Body Found at Fireman's Field

No indication of suspicious activity, police report.

A gruesome discovery was made at Fireman's Field Saturday morning, when park-goers reported to police that a man's body was found near the woods.

At 10:30 a.m. Jefferson Township Police responded to the area and found an unresponsive person near the field, Capt. Eric Wilsusen said.

Cpl. Glenn Peter, Sgt. John Kessler and other officers determined the 31-year-old Jefferson Township man was dead, Wilsusen said.

The deceased man's identification is not being released.

The incident does not appear to be suspicious in nature, Wilsusen said.

Determination of the cause of death is still pending further investigation by the Office of the Medical Examiner, Wilsusen said. Members of the Morris County Prosecutor's Office also responded to the scene.
