Jefferson Business Goes Digital for Graphics

McNabb Studios, a graphic design firm.

Jefferson resident Mark McNabb took a somewhat windy road to get to where he is today, the owner of McNabb Studios, a graphic design firm.

McNabb started with a degree in Science, then received a master’s in education before attending the Kubert School to receive an art degree.

“It was a matter of listening to what other people told me I should do, and then finally realizing that art was what I wanted to do,” McNabb said.

Fast forward several years and jobs later, and McNabb fills his days working on graphic designs for packaging, published materials, product design, computer coloring, logos, illustrations and web sites.

One of McNabb’s career highlights came when he designed artwork for a Halloween festival at New York’s Madison Square Garden.

“I didn’t want to go at first, but I was told that people wanted to meet me, so I went to the Garden for the festival,” he recalled. “It was pretty cool to see my work in such a huge spot.

“But when I got inside, I was just hanging out, and who walks up behind me but Alice Cooper? That was pretty cool,” he said. “Alice was a great guy. We hung out and talked for a while, and he complimented my work.”

Back in his studio, McNabb works mostly on digital projects.

“Digital is definitely the wave of the future,” McNabb said. “Computers are used for everything, and the more I know about working in digital medium, the better I’ll be.”
