Junior Woman's Club of Jefferson Township

The Junior Woman's Club of Jefferson Township will hold the 15th Annual Memorial Wrobo 5K Run/Walk on Sunday, October 6, 2013 at 9:00 am.

Each year the Memorial Wrobo Run is held in honor of 2nd Lt. John T. Wroblewski and raises funds for various community projects. Oak Ridge resident 2nd Lieutenant John Thomas (J.T.) Wroblewski succumbed to injuries sustained while battling in Ramadi, Iraq in April 2004.  J.T. was a lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps. He joined the Marines only days after the 9-11 attacks, determined to make a difference. He left behind his mom, dad, three younger brothers, his widow and many additional family members and friends.

The Junior Woman’s Club of Jefferson Township is donating the proceeds from this Wrobo Run to The Seeing Eye.  Since 1929, The Seeing Eye has partnered with people who are blind who seek to enhance their independence, dignity, and self-confidence through the use of Seeing Eye dogs.  More than 15,500 of these specially bred and trained dogs have brought a new level of mobility, safety, and self-sufficiency to over 8,000 men and women.  The Seeing Eye’s mission is the empowerment of visually impaired people to lead an independent life with dignity.  For more information go to www.seeingeye.org
